Singapore residents will soon have another convenient way to perform SafeEntry (SE) check-in with their TraceTogether (TT) Token or App. The new SafeEntry Gateway (SEGW), developed by GovTech, enables contactless detection of both App and Token to facilitate seamless check-ins. It will also help to check that the TT Token battery has not run out.

We acknowledge our error in not stating that data from TraceTogether is not exempt
from the Criminal Procedure Code.
In Parliament on 5 January, Minister-in-Charge of the Smart Nation Initiative, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Minister for Home Affairs and for Law, Mr K Shanmugam, assured the House and the public that the use of TraceTogether data in criminal investigations would be restricted to serious offences.
The Government will pass legislation to formalise these assurances.

As at 21 December 2020, the percentage of Singapore residents participating in the TraceTogether (TT) Programme has surpassed the 70% mark, with more than 3.8 million people using the TT App or Token. More than 2.05 million unique users have downloaded and registered for the App, and more than 1.75 million Tokens have been collected to date.

The Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) has published the inaugural annual update on the Government’s personal data protection efforts. The update contains the measures undertaken to date to strengthen the public sector data security regime to safeguard citizen data. The annual update will also serve to enhance transparency on how the Government uses and secures citizen data, which is among the key recommendations made by the Public Sector Data Security Review Committee (PSDSRC).

Starting 29 October, TraceTogether (TT) Tokens will be distributed at the constituency level to better match demand and to avoid long queues. New collection venues will be open one constituency at a time. Stock will be set aside for residents belonging to that constituency. Residents should only collect their Tokens from their designated collection venue, scheduled to start at specified dates. Residents in each constituency will be informed accordingly.
