The TraceTogether Programme has helped to raise the speed and effectiveness of our contact tracing. We will commence nation-wide distribution of TT Tokens starting from 14 September and aim to complete the distribution by November. This will enable more Singapore residents to be protected by the TT Programme, particularly the elderly who may not have a suitable smart phone to operate the App.

Minister-in-Charge of the Smart Nation Initiative Dr Vivian Balakrishnan launched LifeSG, the enhanced version of the Moments of Life (MOL) mobile application today. The LifeSG app will provide users with access to more than 40 services that will be personalised for citizens, and with an improved user experience.

Effective contact tracing is critical as Singapore take steps to open up. A good contact tracing programme helps to halt the spread of the disease by quickly identifying close contacts, providing early treatment and isolating them effectively. This will enable transmissions to be well-contained, so that we do not have to go back into circuit breaker mode again due to an uncontrolled outbreak.

As Singapore eases its circuit breaker measures and allows the resumption of more businesses and activities, it is even more critical that contact tracing be conducted quickly, and comprehensively.

The Multi-Ministry Taskforce earlier announced a set of safe management practices and technologies for individuals and businesses to adopt to support the safe and gradual resumption of normal activities. Businesses and services that are in operation must come on board SafeEntry to log the check-in of employees and visitors.

The National Parks Board (NParks) and the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (comprising Smart Nation and Digital Government Office and Government Technology Agency) are conducting a pilot trial of a four-legged robot called SPOT to assist safe distancing efforts at parks, gardens and nature reserves managed by NParks, including Park Connectors, Pulau Ubin, as well as parks managed by town councils.
