Transport in a Smart Nation
Currently, our Government has set aside 12% of our land area for roads and infrastructure. Considering our small land size, this is a significant percentage.
However, our growing population requires us to further optimise our limited space. With more than 1 million vehicles on the road and counting, we face the ongoing challenge of designing more efficient, safe and reliable transportation systems for Singapore.
The initiatives below outline how we aim to achieve this.
The future of Singapore’s transport system will bring greater mobility to everyone
The CETRAN test circuit enables research and testing of self-driving vehicles before these officially hit the roads
Our contactless fare payment system is constantly being refined to make commuting a breeze
We’re exploring ways to harness autonomous technology and public transport data to meet commuters’ needs
We encourage sharing of open data so that developers can come up with creative solutions that improve our transport system
